I am an artist, designer, speaker, writer. I’m a mother, daughter, sister, friend. I’m a globetrotter, cultural junkie, dance fanatic. And being a native-born Ugandan with mixed Rwandese heritage raised in America, has colored the lens through which I experience the world. In 2014, I co-authored and published my first book with my sister, Christine St. Vil, entitled Whose Shoes Are You Wearing? 12 Steps to Uncovering the Woman You Really Want to Be. Since the sold out book launch, Whose Shoes has been been featured on local and international media, and is transforming lives while attracting a fast-growing following. Written from a cultural and Christian perspective, the book was described by one reader as a “powerful tool for self-healing.”

Previously, as the founder of a multicultural design and communications firm, I led and collaborated on projects ranging from award-winning magazines and Fortune 500 company web sites, to international marketing campaigns, and life-changing cultural and historical exhibits. As a community organizer with African Diaspora for Change, I chaired star-studded events and led critical community dialogues, while developing culturally-relevant programming. And as a performing artist, I have traveled all over the United States and to the Caribbean exhibiting and teaching East African dance, music and culture with Mbuutu of Uganda.

My passion for teaching design, art and culture to youth has informed my work across borders. As a board member of Designers Without Borders, I designed and implemented a successful two-year online distance mentoring program with university design students in Uganda and design professionals in the United States. I am an Advisory Counsel member for Johannesburg-based Brand Africa, as well as an Adjunct Professor of Marketing at Bowie State University in Maryland.

My work has been featured in various media including: The Washington Post,  ABC News, NBC4, FOX5, Associated Press, Communication Arts, HOW Magazine, Huffington Post, NPR, ARISE Magazine, WHUR 96.3 FM, Black Web 2.0, and many others. I’m an active public speaker and mentor and have performed or presented at the United Nations, World Bank, Kennedy Center, the State Department’s International Visitor Leadership Program, Motion Picture Association of America, Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts, Early Education Leadership Conference, the Center for Nonprofit Advancement, Peace Corps, Georgetown University, and Howard University, and many others.

Julian is a passion filled life strategist who truly cares about you and your success. She was gentle but assertive in her approach as she helped me unlock lots mental blocks I had regarding my nonprofit business and how to grow it.  If Julian can help me get over my toughest mental hurdles, she is definitely someone who can help anyone who is willing to take her advice and apply it to their lives. —Tanya Barnett, Founder & Executive Director, Forever Free Books

Julian Kiganda is one of the most creative and inspiring people that I have met in my two decades of work. Although her design and construction of the Freedom House Museum and the National Urban League Centennial Exhibit are two stellar examples of her creativity and inspiration, these physical structures do not provide a full sense of her capability to drive results and change lives. —Patrick Gusman, Chief Operations Officer

I have been going through a transformation for months and have been stepping out on faith. I decided to drive from Philadelphia to Washington, DC to attend the Bold and Fearless Friday (BFF) event being hosted by Julian. Without even knowing it, she started pouring into me. After speaking with Julian my entire perspective changed. She believed in me, helped me dig deep, guided me and inspired me.
